U.S. state of New York has set the minimum age to buy cigarettes.
Population of 18.9 million, the U.S. State Administration maximizes their citizens to encourage healthy lifestyles by launching its latest initiative on Sunday 18 May. Youth under the age of twenty years will not be sold cigarettes.
At least 21 years of age to buy cigarettes to appoint a law was signed last November 19. And New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who shortly after completing his second term and fled. Now, six months after the law is implemented and its effects are being felt immediately.

According to official statistics, in 2002 in New York, the rate of adult smokers was 21.5 percent in 2011 to only 14.8 percent came. However, youth smoking rates since 2007 has been 8.5% without any change.
